POSITION SUMMARY: Job Development involves sourcing employment opportunities forindividuals with a variety of abilities. The Job Developer will make phone calls and personal contactswith local businesses to showcase the talents of the clients we serve. Job Developers will also work with clients to prepare them for the community work experience and introduce them to prospective employers. There is a high level of satisfaction when placement opportunities are realized, knowing you have made a positive impact on someone's life and livelihood.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:● Make regular contacts with employers to develop job opportunities for agency clients● Make contact with employers to inform them of the supported work program and clients availablefor specific employment opportunities● Record all business contacts along with pertinent information.● Prepare analysis of work environment, requirements, and specific job tasks● Coordinate job analysis/job placement with employer and case coordinator● Prepare and/or review client assessment for the job match● Orient, train, and supervise clients to perform community jobs to the specifications of employersand within the guidelines of the Individual Support Plan● Train clients in other vocational support skills related to the job such as transportation, workschedule, clock use, appropriate attire, social interactions, and skills to implement for job success● Develop task analysis for each client's job as necessary● Assist clients in obtaining required permits; i.e., driver's license, food handlers permit.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:● Coordinate and perform job information dissemination and counseling to client, appropriateresidential provider, case manager and funding source prior to job placement● Maintain contact with residential providers, funding sources, and other agencies concerningvocational activities● Maintain and facilitate on-going communications and consultation with employers, supervisors, andco-workers● Maintain all necessary on-the-job records and record daily data entries into appropriaterecord keeping systems● Perform Job Coaching duties as requested● Cross training in other areas as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:● High School Diploma or equivalent● Dependable transportation; valid Oregon driver's license with driving record sufficient to qualify todrive agency vehicles● Ability to pass an Oregon Department of Human Services background check● Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred● Previous work experience in business and/or industry
PHYSICAL DEMAND:● The physical effort applied in this job may include: Pushing, Pulling, Lifting (up to 50 lbs), Carrying,Reaching, Bending, Keying/Typing, Driving, Standing for Long Periods of Time, Walking, Speakingand Repetition. Much of this will depend on the specific demands of the client job placement.
MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:● Frequent and continuous mental and visual focus will be required depending on the task
WORKING CONDITIONS:● Working conditions will vary depending on the client, task and job site.● May include exposure to weather, cold, heat, dust, noise, chemicals or may be in a climatecontrolled and regulated environment● Requires occasional flexibility in work hours and days, dependent upon client schedule.● Appropriate personal protective equipment will be supplied if needed● Driving between job sites, interacting with consumers and businesses● May be exposed to a variety of hazards (chemical fumes and potentially dangerous machines andequipment and inclement weather conditions.
ATTENDANCE:● Job Development requires availability based on business need.● It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies aremaintained at all times● Clients and Co-workers depend on you being on the job and on time
SAFETY:● There is never a good reason to risk your own personal safety or that of a co-worker, client orbusiness partner.● Being proactive to prevent injuries or incidents is an expectation● All injuries or incidents, no matter how small, must be reported
FLSA:● The position of Job Developer is a non-exempt position● Non-Exempt positions are eligible for overtime pay
